What is a pressure switch?

The pressure switch is a small round switch with a tube attached to it that checks that the draft inducer motor is operating correctly. Once the inducer motor has cleared any gases left in the heat exchanger the pressure switch is activated and the furnace can safely ignite.

Where is it located?

The pressure switch is located inside the upper panel near the draft inducer motor.

Maintenance Tips

  • Check to make sure the hose isn't cracked or damaged every 3 months
  • Make sure the switch has no water on it every 3 months
  • Make sure the port is clear from any debris every 3 months
  • Make sure the switch properly clicks by removing it and blowing through it every 3 months
  • Lifespan

    The lifespan of the pressure switch is 10 - 15 years.
